Fight “israel” to Support the Awaited Savior: Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi on Imam Mahdi (Part Two)

This is the second part of a series on the thoughts of Martyr Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi, the former secretary general of Hezbollah, on the issue of Imam Mahdi (aj), who will return with Jesus Christ (as) at the end of times to defeat the antichrist (Dajjal) system and all other illegitimate, Satanic tyrants on the earth and establish divine justice, true peace, and prosperity for all human beings. His Eminence, Martyr Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi (ra) confirms that the greatest goal at the level of the prophets and messengers is the goal that Imam Mahdi (aj) aims for and whose banner is carried by Imam Mahdi. Therefore, “people must have a high level of awareness, that is, full knowledge of the Imam of the time, and that what he is doing is the truth, what he says is the truth. If anything happened to us, we would go behind him, support him, fight and hope to be martyred in his hands.”

His Eminence (ra) confirms that the basic qualities that the personality of a Shi’a believer needs in order to be a supporter of Imam Mahdi (ajtf) require “special education, a special educational programme, as when we adopt a special educational programme for our personality, we will cultivate a true personality. The person will become ready for all trials and tribulations during the reign of Imam Mahdi. These trials are very difficult … Allah Almighty will test the hearts of the believers as in the Battle of Al-Ahzab [the Clans].”

Martyr Sayyed Abbas draws attention to verse 214 of Surat Al-Baqarah: [In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful] “Or did you think that you would enter Paradise, when the likeness of those who passed before you came to you? Misfortune and adversity befell them, and they were shaken until the Messenger and those who believed with him said, ‘When will God give you victory? Indeed, God’s victory is near.’” .

He comments that achieving Paradise requires a personality on the level of Ammar, Muhammad bin Abi Bakr, and Malik al-Ashtar. Martyr Sayyed Abbas (ra) says: “A personality of this level is required. You find a person who brought some games for entertainment, while there is another person who is keen to read a book to learn about what happened in the time of the Prophet (S). When you read about the personality of the Imam or any personality, you educate yourself, turning the features of their lives into educational models.”

He goes on saying: “In this era of our lives, I remember a great exceptional honor at the level of our nation, especially at the level of this arena. The jihad of Lebanon against the Jews is a great honor. This honor is the best record through which I can open a good and strong relationship with Imam Mahdi (ajtf) because one of the most prominent enemies that Imam Mahdi will face are the Jews.”

Martyr Sayyed Abbas (ra) proceeds: “We must pay attention to the fact that the most important thing we must bear responsibility for today is confronting the widespread Jewish expansion in the region. One of the basic tasks that Imam Mahdi will bear responsibility for, and whose banner he will raise, is the task of confronting the Jews.”

Concerning our mission before the appearance of Imam Mahdi, His Eminence points out: “The people have wronged themselves greatly when they believed that our mission at the time of awaiting the reappearance is to wait in the homes, and not even enjoining our children to do good or forbid them from evil; to only worship during day and night, and pretend to wait impatiently! These people have lost the world. As for those who have left their homes and prepared to confront falsehood in all fields without hesitation or fear, no matter how dear the price, these are the ones who are truly awaiting Imam Mahdi. We are the bearers of Imam Mahdi’s banner, we are the bearers of Islam. We want Allah’s call to reach all peoples, for all peoples to become Muslims, this is what we want.”

His Eminence Martyr Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi (ra) links between the resistance project and Imam Mahdi’s project, as he boasts: “With this jihadist honor, the faithful Mujahideen from Hezbollah has launched their resistance. When our jihad is against ‘Israel,’ when we rise to a great level in our fight against ‘Israel,’ Imam Mahdi (ajtf) will find a basis upon which to launch. In fact, these mujahideen have paved the path, and this is the meaning of paving the path for Imam Mahdi’s project, this is a way for us to be people of obedience and love of Allah.”
